Nap Spots.

Here's the problem: How do I get Emma to nap while we do school?

Our classroom is in a room behind the garage. It's pretty far away from the bedrooms upstairs. Emma has frequent bad dreams and isn't a fan of sleeping upstairs alone. She naps for 1.5-2 hours daily. In addition, I was afraid that cutting her school day short would not be a grand idea to her. So, how do I get her to nap easily on the days we are still doing school during nap time?

Here's the solution: A special nap spot under the breakfast table.

It is just a few feet over from the classroom. Blankets, pillow, cd player, and favorite doll...even a poster on the underneath side of the table. No one will ever see it. The rest of the stuff, she sets up and puts away each time she naps. It's her own special spot. She is given a popsicle stick, if she behaves herself through nap time.

Here's how this new idea went down..
Attempt #1: screaming, wiggly, fit throwing four year old for 1.5 hours, no sleeping.
Attempt #2: screaming, wiggly, fit throwing four year old for 1 hour, then sleeping for 1.5 hours.
Attempt #3: quiet, still, peaceful four year old, sleeping for 2 hours.

VICTORY.

Where's the strangest place you have ever put one of your kids to sleep????

  4. Thanks to a schedule book I was reading, Lukas and I have built a "nest" in our Master bedroom. Its a pile of blankets and an extra pillow right under the window seat. He brings his blanket and dinosaur every afternoon and takes a rest in his nest! It works great! Our bedrooms and our school room are all upstairs, its going well so far!
